How to Prepare for the Missouri CNA Exam

Missouri has a pass rate that mirrors the national average — around 70–75% of first-time test takers pass the written exam. Students who use practice tests consistently perform significantly better. Recommended study approach: 1. Take a full 70-question diagnostic practice test before you start studying. Identify your weakest topics. 2. Focus on Physical Care Skills first — it is 45% of the exam. Master bathing, transfers, positioning, and catheter care. 3. Study Infection Control and Safety next — together they make up 28% of the exam. 4. Take full practice tests under timed conditions. Aim for 80% or higher before your test date. 5. For the skills test, practice each skill from start to finish including handwashing. Have someone watch you and check off the steps.
