Free Kansas CNA Practice Test 2026 — 100-Question KDADS Exam

Kansas CNA exam facts for 2026: 90-hour training, exam administered directly by KDADS (no commercial testing vendor), a 100-question/2-hour exam, and free practice questions.

Kansas CNA Exam — Key Facts (2026)

Here is what every Kansas CNA candidate needs to know before sitting for the exam — note that Kansas's exam vendor and written exam format are both genuinely different from the generic NNAAP template: • Training required: 90 hours (above the 75-hour federal minimum) • Exam administrator: the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) Health Occupations Credentialing unit directly — unlike most states, Kansas doesn't use a commercial testing vendor (no Prometric, Credentia, or HDmaster). The exam is given at approved school/college test sites. • Written exam: 100 questions, 120 minutes — far more questions than the standard 70-question format • Passing score: 75% — higher than the 70% most states require • Content areas: 10 broad domains, including Activities of Daily Living/Basic Nursing Skills, Restorative Services, Common Diseases and Disorders, Infection Control, Mental and Social Needs, Cognitive Impairment, Resident's Rights, Safety and Emergencies, Communication and Interpersonal Skills, and Role and Responsibilities — not the standard 6-category breakdown • Registry: Kansas Nurse Aide Registry, maintained by KDADS If you've studied using a generic "70 questions in 2 hours, 70% to pass" practice test, recalibrate — Kansas's real exam is 100 questions in the same 2 hours, with a 75% passing bar.

Kansas CNA Certification Overview

To become a Certified Nurse Aide in Kansas, you must complete a state-approved CNA training program and pass the Kansas Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation administered directly by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) Health Occupations Credentialing unit — Kansas does not contract with a commercial testing vendor the way most states do. Kansas requires a minimum of 90 hours of CNA training — above the 75-hour federal minimum. The exam has two parts: • A written knowledge test: 100 multiple-choice questions, 120 minutes • A clinical skills evaluation: demonstration of randomly selected nurse aide skills You must pass both parts to be listed on the Kansas Nurse Aide Registry. The passing score for the written exam is 75%.

Kansas CNA Written Exam — What Is Tested

Kansas doesn't use the national NNAAP content outline or a commercial vendor's test plan — KDADS's own Kansas-specific test covers 10 broad content domains: • Activities of Daily Living / Basic Nursing Skills • Restorative Services • Common Diseases and Disorders • Infection Control • Mental and Social Needs • Cognitive Impairment • Resident's Rights • Safety and Emergencies • Communication and Interpersonal Skills • Role and Responsibilities of the CNA KDADS does not publish an official per-question percentage breakdown for these domains, so don't rely on a generic "45% Physical Care Skills" study plan — study broadly across all ten areas, with 100 questions to cover in 120 minutes.

Kansas CNA Testing Locations

The Kansas CNA written exam is administered directly by KDADS at approved school and college test sites throughout the state, including sites in and around: • Wichita • Overland Park • Kansas City • Topeka • Olathe • Lawrence • Shawnee • Manhattan • Salina • Hutchinson Your training program will direct you to your nearest approved test site and available exam dates — contact KDADS Health Occupations Credentialing directly if you need help locating one.

Kansas CNA Skills Test — What to Expect

The clinical skills evaluation is held at a KDADS-approved test site. You will demonstrate randomly selected skills before a trained evaluator. Handwashing is evaluated with every skill — perform it correctly at the start and end of each demonstration. Rushing hand hygiene is a common reason Kansas candidates fail the skills evaluation. Contact KDADS Health Occupations Credentialing or your training program for the complete list of skills and required steps.

How to Prepare for the Kansas CNA Exam

Kansas's written exam first-attempt pass rate is approximately 70–75%, despite a 75% passing bar that's higher than most states. 1. Take a full practice test covering all ten Kansas content domains before studying — Kansas doesn't publish a dominant category, so don't assume one topic matters most. 2. Study broadly across Basic Nursing Skills, Restorative Services, Infection Control, and Safety — these come up often regardless of exact weighting. 3. Practice under timed conditions — 120 minutes for 100 questions, more questions than most states but the same time limit. 4. Target 85% on practice tests before your real exam — a real buffer above Kansas's 75% passing bar. After You Pass — Kansas Nurse Aide Registry

After passing both parts of the Kansas exam, your name is added to the Kansas Nurse Aide Registry maintained by KDADS. Kansas employers must verify registry status before hiring nurse aides in licensed facilities. Your Kansas CNA certification is valid for 24 months. To maintain active status, you must work as a nurse aide for at least 8 hours for pay during each renewal period. Lapsed certifications require retaking the competency exam. Registry status can be verified through the KDADS website.
