Free Nevada CNA Practice Test 2026 — 75-Question HDmaster Exam
Nevada CNA exam facts for 2026: 75-hour training, HDmaster vendor (replacing a prior vendor in 2026), an 80% passing score, a 12-category test plan, a 1-year retake window, and free practice questions.
Nevada CNA Exam — Key Facts (2026)
Here is what every Nevada CNA candidate needs to know before sitting for the exam — Nevada's testing vendor recently changed, and its written exam format is genuinely different from the generic NNAAP template:
• Training required: 75 hours (federal minimum)
• Exam vendor: HDmaster (D&S Diversified Technologies), approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN) — this is a 2026 handbook, so if you've seen older information naming a different vendor, it's outdated
• Written exam: 75 questions, 60 minutes — not the 70-question/2-hour format most states use
• Skills exam: 5 randomly selected skills
• Passing score: 80% — notably higher than the 70% most states require
• Exam fee: $165 for the first attempt (knowledge $75 + skills $90)
• Retake limit: up to 3 attempts, all within 1 year of training completion
• Registry: Nevada Nursing Assistant Registry, maintained by NSBN
If you've studied using a generic "70 questions in 2 hours, 70% to pass" practice test, recalibrate — Nevada's real exam is 75 questions in 60 minutes with an 80% passing bar, the highest of any HDmaster state on this site.
Nevada CNA Certification Overview
To become a Certified Nursing Assistant in Nevada, you must complete a state-approved CNA training program and pass the Nevada Nursing Assistant Competency Evaluation administered by HDmaster (D&S Diversified Technologies), approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN).
Nevada requires a minimum of 75 hours of CNA training — the federal minimum.
The exam has two parts:
• A written (or audio) knowledge test: 75 multiple-choice questions, 60 minutes
• A clinical skills evaluation: demonstration of 5 randomly selected nurse aide skills
You must pass both parts — within 1 year of completing training — to be listed on the Nevada Nursing Assistant Registry. The passing score for the written exam is 80%.
Nevada CNA Written Exam — What Is Tested
Nevada doesn't use the national NNAAP content outline — HDmaster's Nevada-specific test plan breaks the 75 questions into 12 content domains:
• Basic Nursing Skills (9 questions)
• Infection Control and Standard Precautions (9 questions)
• Safety (9 questions)
• Role and Responsibility (8 questions)
• Personal Care (7 questions)
• Care Impaired (6 questions)
• Client Rights (6 questions)
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills (5 questions)
• Data Collection (5 questions)
• Disease Process (4 questions)
• Mental Health (4 questions)
• Development across the Ages and Restorative Care (3 questions)
There's no single dominant category like the 45% Physical Care Skills weighting most states use — Basic Nursing Skills, Infection Control, and Safety tie for the largest share at about 12% each.

Nevada CNA Skills Test — What to Expect
The clinical skills evaluation is held at an HDmaster skills testing site. You will demonstrate 5 randomly selected skills before a trained RN evaluator.
Handwashing is evaluated with every skill — perform it at the start and end of each demonstration. Incomplete hand hygiene is a common reason Nevada candidates fail the skills evaluation.
The Nevada Nursing Assistant Candidate Handbook is available on the HDmaster website and lists every possible skill and required step.
How to Prepare for the Nevada CNA Exam
Nevada's written exam first-attempt pass rate is approximately 70–75%, despite an 80% passing bar — the highest of any HDmaster state on this site.
1. Take a full 75-question diagnostic practice test before studying. Review your scores across all twelve Nevada content areas — don't assume one category dominates.
2. Prioritize Basic Nursing Skills, Infection Control, and Safety — the three largest categories, tied at about 12% each.
3. Practice under timed conditions — 60 minutes for 75 questions.
4. Target 88% or higher on practice tests before your real exam — a meaningful buffer above Nevada's unusually high 80% passing bar.

After You Pass — Nevada Nursing Assistant Registry
After passing both parts of the Nevada exam, your name is added to the Nevada Nursing Assistant Registry maintained by the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN). Nevada employers must verify registry status before hiring nurse aides in licensed facilities.
Your Nevada CNA certification is valid for 24 months. To maintain active status, you must work as a nurse aide for at least 8 hours for pay during each renewal period. Lapsed certifications require retaking the competency exam.
Registry status can be verified through the NSBN website.
